Hello and Welcome!

I grew up in a large boisterous family north of NYC with an artist mom who was either pulling out crayons, glue and paper or sending us outside to play. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t doodling or engaged in some messy arts project at the kitchen table. As an adult I learned to paint by taking community art classes but my passion and drive for creative expression all started at the kitchen table with my mom and siblings.

I ADORE the process of painting: the blank canvas, paints of exquisite color, collage paper, brushes, scrapers, pens, crayons and ink, looking around my art space readying myself to begin and begin again. My inspirations are nature and a quest for inner harmony. I balance intuition and thought. I listen for what the painting wants to become. Ultimately layers are created by adding and removing paint and using various tools for mark making. I get stuck, take a break and return with new curious eyes until the piece feels complete.

Over the years I have explored ceramics, metal sculpture, fused glass, cartooning and watercolors. After studying with Jane Davies, I found my home with acrylics and collage. My work is abstract and non-representational, leaning into contemporary expressionism. I strive to create vibrant compositions that stir in others a sense of awe, peace and happiness.

Today, I live happily in the Finger Lakes region of New York with my wife Lisa and our 2 cats Nya and Zoe.
